The 2023 Halliday Wine Companion released on 4th August, for us has been more than worth waiting for. Narkoojee retained its 5 red star rating but also went up a notch with the stars underlined in red. This takes Narkoojee into very rare air. Indeed, Narkoojee is one of only 62 wineries so awarded in Victoria and sits in the top 15% of Australian wineries reviewed by Halliday in the 2023 Wine Companion.
Further, we are proud to be one of only two wineries in Gippsland to have received that honour.
Nine Narkoojee wines were reported in the 2023 Wine Companion with four gaining gold medal awards and the remaining five silver medals.
Special mention must go to our incredible Chief Winemaker Axel Friend, and his amazing vineyard and winemaking teams. These are wonderful accolades to be admired.

The 2020 Valerie Chardonnay also appeared in the Halliday Wine Companion magazine TopWhite Selections supplement, Aug/Sept edition, and the 2020 Valerie Shiraz appeared in the Cellaring Selections supplement, Jun/Jul edition.
The 2020 Valerie Shiraz was reviewed again in the Halliday magazine Aug/Sept edition, under the heading 10 Great Cooler-Climate Shiraz, as selected by Jane Faulkner. Among these 10 wines were wines such as the Craiglee 2018 Sunbury Shiraz, 2020 Yabby Lake Single Vineyard Mornington Peninsular Syrah and 2019 Mount Langi Ghiran Vineyards Langi Grampians Shiraz – illustrious company indeed!
While four of our awarded wines are now sold out, they are included here for completeness and as a guide for those who have not yet consumed these wines but have wisely put them aside for further ageing.
