The fruit for this wine from the exceptional 2021 season, is handpicked from our estate plantings. Three selected hogshead barrels were chosen for this wine, which is named in honour of Maxwell Friend, the grandson of founders Val and Harry Friend. Fermented by wild yeasts indigenous to our vineyard, it is an intense wine of outstanding length, complexity and balance and will reward cellaring for many years.

Bouquet: Blackberry with licorice, black olive, almond kernel, a touch of violets and earth and cedary French oak
Flavour: Blackberry, with truffles, dark chocolate, a touch of soy, coconut and cedary French oak
Texture: Rich and mouth filling with fine tannins, perfect balance and a long, intense finish
Alcohol: 14.5%
